Wednesday With You was a variety show that ran in 1945. It was hosted by Eddie Cantor and featured comedic hillarity and musical numbers. Long a sponsor of Eddie Cantor vehicles, Bristol-Myers extended its Eddie Cantor Show with a somewhat abbreviated rendition for the Summer of 1945. Eddie Cantor had 'discovered' young vocalist Nora Lou Martin during the 1945 season of The Eddie Cantor Show, as well as tenor Fred Martel. Renamed Wednesday With You for the Summer vacation of The Eddie Cantor Show, the comedy-variety program premiered on June 27th 1945 and ran for thirteen weeks.
Nora Martin and Fred Martel were assisted by trumpeter Leonard Sues and announcer/comedic foil, Harry Von Zell. Martin and Martel handled the vocals, Leonard Sues provided the instrumental selections and the entire cast participated in the nightly comedy sketches.
The situation-comedy sketches were set at Eddie Cantor's mythical lakeside 'Cantor's Cozy Cabana' summer lodge. Frequent Eddie Cantor references appeared as running jokes throughout the series.
Harry Von Zell also served as Bristol-Myers' commercial spokeman, pushing Sal Hepatica, Minit-Rub and Trushay 'Beforehand' Lotion.
